Many years ago I was afforded the privilege of doing the boarding announcement on the Mark Twain Riverboat. The video was lost for years but I managed to recover it after a little voice inspired me to try something different. So much to reflect on these days. On this #worldoceansday I’m reminded of the beauty that is this world. As the oceans are always in flux, changing as the moon pulls and creates the tides, we as a people are being pulled now into a new direction, one which may challenge our way of thinking, our biases, our beliefs and quite honestly, our ignorance. However, If we open our minds, our eyes, our ears, our hearts, I believe we will come out for the better. For as a tempest may churn up the surface and create havoc and despair, underneath, the ocean remains calm and in harmony, a giver of life. At our core, we are all one. So as the tempest subsides, let’s begin a dialogue. Listen to each other with respect and understanding. I find myself an eternal optimist and truly believe that a more harmonious world can be ours. One that respects and embraces all regardless of perceived differences. The choice is ours.
